I have a special review for you today, well, two actually! Anthony Le Moignan is a celebrated author and his new book In Another Lifetime is published tomorrow! This is my review!
But first, what is it about?
Tabatha has led a charmed life in Cambridge. Closing in on her 31st birthday, she’s only ever known private schools, a degree, and a mother and father who dote on her. Then there’s Rick – the perfect boyfriend she now lives with – until she comes home unexpectedly …
A life turned on its head in one earth-shattering moment, the imagery imprinted on her mind forever. But how long does forever last?
When she meets young Aussie, Grant, online, it seems there could be a way out, but will the nightmares ever stop? Or have they only just begun?
Even the unconditional love her parents give may not be all it seems.
Official blurb for In Another Lifetime
The premise of the book had me intrigued, but the story itself was thrilling. The themes of this book all tie together to create a brilliant and engaging novel.
Dating in the modern world, a strange world isn’t it? Moignan’s narrative explores the highs and lows of love with more twists and turns than a roller-coaster, and this book definitely made me feel like I was on one! I wasn’t expecting to connect with the characters as much as I did. And, without spoiling anything, I loved the ending.
Tabatha has it all, she’s lived a wonderful but sheltered life of privilege; all she’s ever known are private schools, solid education, and her parents who spoil her rotten. Her boyfriend is like her very own prince charming, and she wants to live happily ever after. But as she approaches her 31st birthday, things aren’t all what they seem.
I enjoyed Tabatha’s character. The narrative is mainly within a third person perspective, but there are some first person dialogues in the form of messages which broke up the narrative and created tension. The prologue at the start is also written differently and sets-up an interesting mystery, but as this is a non-spoiler review, you’ll have to find that out for yourself!
The characters are at the heart of this story, as I said, I wasn’t expecting to connect with them as much as I did, but I found myself drawn to them. There is so much passion and emotion in Moignan’s writing that you can’t help but get swept up in the story.
I have been telling everyone about this book. I loved it and flew through it within a matter of days. The story flows so easily, I couldn’t put it down. I’d say if you fancy reading something a bit different but with a classic and sophisticated edge, this is the book for you!
