‘The good, the BAD, and the ugly…’

HEY! So, I am eager to share with my review of the second instalment of Chloe Esposito’s trilogy, BAD as part of the novel’s official blog tour!

Alvie Knightly is back . . . and she’s hungover.

When Alvie discovers that her hit man boyfriend has driven off with the Lamborghini and two million euros, she does what any heartbroken, deserted, amateur assassin would do – she drinks everything in the mini-bar and trashes her hotel room. And then she gets to work.

A perilous cat-and-mouse game takes the pair across Rome, leaving a trail of collateral damage in their wake. But as she wholeheartedly embraces her dark side Alvie will have to figure out if Nino is her nemesis . . . or the only man bad enough to handle her.

Official blurb of BAD

Now, I really don’t want to spoil the plot of this book, as there are some key things which are MAJOR SPOILERS! So, instead my reviews consist of how the book made me feel, if I was gripped by it, if I would recommend to others… etc. However, this book is slightly different as I have to be careful not to reveal a lot about book 1 either! So, bear with me!

After reaching the end of MAD (click here for my review of MAD), I couldn’t help myself but pick up BAD within minutes of finishing book 1! I wanted to follow Alvie on the next leg of her journey, but nothing could prepare me for the quirky action-packed dark-humoured plot that absorbed me immediately!

I don’t know how it’s possible, but Alvie in this novel is even more outrageous; her actions are unpredictable and heavily inappropriate, but her inner monologue is both amusing and disturbing, something that clicked with my ‘does this book pull me in?’ rule- if I am not pulled in by a book within 5 chapters, I am unlikely to continue. This book pulled me in from the very first sentence in 0.5 seconds- I knew it was going to be devilishly goooooood!

I have enjoyed talking about this book to others, even more so when they ask ‘How’s the crime thriller going?’ and I reply, ‘Oh it’s hilarious’ haha! The look on their faces amuses me! This story is seductive, addictive, and the sauciest crime novel you will pick up this year!

The setting will sweep you away, unnerving your senses into believing the story is safe, that nothing will happen. But don’t be fooled, things are not always as they seem.

I love books that are sequels yet can be stand-alone novels. I would say that if you picked up a copy of BAD in the shops, you would thoroughly enjoy it without having read the first one, however, to enjoy it more I would seriously recommend reading these books in order! Even if you’re not a fan of ‘series’ books, this one is so worth it you will be totally converted!

I would recommend this book to anyone who wants the thrill of an action-packed book, but with a delectable punch! This witty and entertaining story will certainly be the perfect accompaniment to your summer holiday!

Thank you to Katie Ashworth for my copy of BAD!
